ABOUT RACHEL

Salutations! I am an independent teacher offering outside classes and tutoring services to families looking for alternatives to the public school system. I teach reading, literature, composition, and history. My background in classical education has led me to love teaching others to seek truth, goodness, and beauty in their studies and everyday lives.

My educational philosophy is inspired by Charlotte Mason. From Mason I have learned to see every student as a person who needs to be raised and equipped to live a full life. To live fully we all need to know the source of life - Jesus Christ. Education is coming alongside another person to show them how and why to live for Christ's kingdom. Everyone wants to see their student acing tests and winning scholarships, but we should ask ourselves whether our methods of teaching are really training up a generation of good character, sound mind, wide interests, and active faith.
